Tower Hamlets | Ref 8018
The Cranbrook Estate, named after a road originally situated on the land, was opened in 1964 and the higher blocks are named after towns from around the world that Bethnal Green is twinned with - Velletri, St Gilles, Offenbach, Alzette, Modling and Puteaux - while the smaller buildings are named after roads that were razed to build the estate.
It is located next to Roman Road and is based around a figure of eight street called Mace Street. The Cranbrook Estate is a campus estate with six tower blocks in pairs in height order - two 15-storey blocks, two 13-storey blocks and two 11-storey blocks - with five four-storey blocks on its campus.
The estate has garages, playgrounds and a concrete football pitch and provides the perfect backdrop for filming.
There is a clean and bright community centre on the estate that can be used as a holding area.
