Film Museum
Lambeth | Ref 5840
Film Museum is said to have been home to the young Charlie Chaplain, who lived there with his mother as a child. It is a charitable organisation that is devoted to keeping alive the spirit of cinema from the days before the multiplex and houses a unique collection of artefacts, memorabilia and equipment that preserves the history and grandeur of cinema from the 1890s to the present day. This eclectic venue plays host to a variety of talks, screenings and events throughout the year.
The main event space is a unique blend of furnishings and curiosities and comes with a bar area, stage, screen and a floor to ceiling Chaplain sculpture. High ceilings, exposed brick and marvellous wooden beams complete the room. There is a warren of corridors each containing its own medley of all things movie related. The jewel in the crown is the charming and cosy cinema room, a mere five rows deep where you can recline in vintage red velvet seats while taking in a Hollywood classic.
