The Glasshouse Community Centre

Tower Hamlets

The Glasshouse Community Centre located in East London.

A wonderful community centre with a hall on the first floor, adjoining kitchenette and a ground floor garden.

An exterior concrete staircase leads from the first floor to the exterior (Parkview Estate)

The Glasshouse is constructed of concrete with brick in-fill; it has a highly original cantilevered frame construction, with glass window elevations to the entire elevated first floor levels, contained by metal framed windows and a continuous roof structure formed by three undulating curves, which are reminiscent of the concrete shell roofs used during the Second World War to cover aircraft hangars.

Features Include:

  • Metal framed windows providing excellent light
  • Fully working kitchen and WC upstairs
  • Mini stage
